It’s good that this clip is being seen and discussed. It allows people to weigh up the respective sides of the issue, and to evaluate the quality of arguments, the strength of evidence, and the extent to which each side relies on emotive and evidence-based arguments.

Last week I was attacked for pointing out that parts of Birmingham were a failure of integration. But now Israeli football fans are banned from watching their team play at Villa Park as the police can’t guarantee their safety. Maybe I wasn’t wrong after all.

Experts are warning that Armageddon will disproportionately affect the LGBTQ+ community. Anyone still using fossil fuels should be arrested for homophobic hate crime.

We need to confront the fact these people are being returned to the British Parliament - it reflects a *calamitous* failure of integration. All the evidence is that it will get worse in 2029.

I find it exhausting that university applicants now tend to bring their parents with them to university open days (generally encouraged to do so by the universities). But, while I was delivering a recent training course to one university team, one of the participants explained

🧵Lots of debates about multiculturalism, identity and integration at the moment. But what do the public think? At a top level the public are more likely to think the UK is made stronger than weaker by multiculturalism, though there is a pronounced age divide.

Shown the text of Robert Jenrick's remarks in about Handsworth, half of Britons said those remarks were appropriate and a third said inappropriate. Just over half said they agreed with the remarks, whereas 22% said they disagreed.

Significant minorities think anti-semitism, racism & anti-muslim hate are very serious issues in the UK and almost two thirds say that each each of them are at least somewhat serious. Clear majorities also say that Islamist and far-right terrorism are at least somewhat serious.

Hedda Gabler is a deliciously detestable character at the centre of a tight two-hour play that represents the best of theatre. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ open.substack.com/pub/iansowman/…

How am I out of pocket when I feed my kids? Isn't feeding my children the basic purpose of a parent? Sure, some need help, but for most of us, feeding our kids is our responsibility.

But ads don’t reflect the country; they overrepresent certain groups. Thus we’re bound to ask why, and the likely answer is the entire ad industry espouses a version of critical race theory, an inherently anti-white ideology. Hence it’s the ads themselves that stoke resentment.

Impressive gaslighting over Sarah Pochin’s clumsily phrased but completely normal comments. Everyone knows adverts overrepresent certain groups to an absurd degree that even members of said groups often find laughable. The burden of proof is not on the people noticing, but on

If highlighting the self-evidently true fact that black and ethnic people are hugely over-represented in adverts as compared to the general population is ‘racist,’ then that term has completely lost its meaning.

Just 4% of the UK population identifies as black (2021 census). Despite this *one in five* characters portrayed in TV families are black. 9% of the UK is South Asian. On TV? 5%. We’re so America brained we don’t even represent our own predominant minorities predominantly.

OK but the ad/marketing industry thinks it has a duty to reflect society and sees social justice as part of its remit - hence the increase in non-white casting post-Floyd. So it is fair to ask if it’s doing a good job of that.
