Do come visit the excellent poster no.31 by Isobel Gabain here British Society for Parasitology 2024 illustrating her exciting novel Bayesian network analyses examining potential associations between helminth infection and childhood stunting.

I wish, I could come first if I was there, as this topic -contribution of helminth infections (intestinal worms) to stunting, caught my attention since the last 5 years! All the best to you Isobel Gabain & Webster Research Group

Wonderful presentation now here British Society for Parasitology 2024 by our Cheikh Fall, all the way from Senegal - presenting the unique morbidities observed in children and adults infected with Schistosoma spp and their hybrids.

Our high throughput molecular xenomonitoring protocol, that can be used to detect Schistosoma mansoni (and other Trematoda) infections in Biomphalaria, is now published in CR in Parasitology & Vector-Borne Diseases ! 🐌🧬 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Cool to have This week in parasitism discussing our Trends in Parasitology review, Gabain et al., (2023) in a podcast (from ~1 hour in), quite rightly concerned about the neurocognitive delays and reductions that accompany physical stunting in children. open.spotify.com/episode/7I65rJ….

Delighted to share our Trends in Parasitology paper has been converted in a wonderful Teen Science version, examining the ways parasites can cause childhood stunting, with lots of added extras for teachers, SEN and beyond. sciencejournalforkids.org/articles/how-d… UKRI GCRF Action Against Stunting Hub Royal Veterinary College (RVC)

.World Health Organization (WHO) expresses deep concern about the implications of the United States government’s immediate funding pause for #HIV programmes in low- and middle-income countries. These programmes provide access to life-saving HIV therapy to more than 30 million people worldwide. This

Great to share Dan Parsons new paper illustrating how multi-host transmission impacts the genetic diversity of Schistosoma japonicum - through novel sequencing of the antigen coding gene SjACG within miracidial samples from humans and animals in China sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

And today, huge congratulations to Dr Gabain Isobel Gabain to passing her PhD viva, on the role of parasites in childhood stunting, with no corrections - such a true pleasure and honour to supervise.

Delighted to share our systematic review led by Isobel Gabain, revealing significant associations between child protozoan infections and stunting, esp Cryptosporidium spp. the & Giardia spp., although data on impact of maternal infections were lacking. eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%…
