Tourism can cause the spread of invasives. Whether it is local travel or abroad, the tiniest of seeds can be found in mud on your boots and fall off when you're home. Practice #playcleango and #stopthespread of #invasiveplants. zmescience.com/science/touris…

The Outdoor Recreation Council has a great poster on COVID and trail use. One thing to add is to #playcleango and remove all invasive plant parts and mud from your shoes before and after trail use too. If you see a weed, pull it and deposit in the garbage. #trails #beautifulbc

Happy #WoldBeeDay 🐝 Here is a black-tailed bumble bee, native to BC. Native bee species like native plants! Plant some native species in your garden to help them. Check out growgreenguide.ca to see what plants support bees! #bees #bumblebee #bombus #insects #garden

This week's theme for Invasive Species Action month is "Be a Responsible Pet Owner" #dontletitloose. Did you know that Goldfish can grow up to 30cm long and weigh 3lbs? Don't throw your unwanted goldfish in any local ponds or lakes.

Make brushing off invasive species part of your family’s outdoor routine! It’s easy! After an adventure, brush off dirt, seeds, and burrs from your clothes, footwear, and pets. #PlayCleanGo #summeroutdoors

This festive invasive may have gotten you a kiss or two in the past, but it doesn't spread joy in native habitats in BC. English Holly forms dense sharp bushes that out-compete native plants, and their berries are poisonous! Visit PlantWise ow.ly/xPuO50Aq1gJ for more ideas

Nope, that's not a beaver! This is a Nutria; a large and invasive rodent, native to South America. Fortunately there isn't a large established population in BC, however there have been sightings across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. Learn more: buff.ly/3l53oaW

Invasive plant seeds could be hiding in your bird seed. Seed mixes with millet have a higher chance of containing weed seed like pigweed & kochia. Do you have a bird feeder? What type of seed do you use? #birds #birdseed #invasiveplants #stopthespread #buylocal #lovelillooet
