In northern Zambia, Cassava on conventional ridges and furrows has been the norm but under SIFAZ (EU,FAO Zambia, Christian Thierfelder,CIMMYT ) we are proving that it can also work on the flat and under Conservation Agriculture 😄😄.

Despite higher labour requirements, strip cropping and single-row intercropping lead to higher nutrition & economic benefits than monocrops. Thus, important for #smallholders who rely on their produce for food and income. Enjoy: authors.elsevier.com/c/1i87ZcA-Inxzm #UUInitiative #MFS #SIFAZ

Last week, the #RAIZ team toured the #Agroecology trials in Mutoko (CIMMYT). Despite the drought, our experiments on conservation agriculture and organic fertilizers like Bokashi and Vermicompost yielded promising results. These are crucial lessons for farmers and technocrats.

Last week was highly enriching as we learned about the tremendous impact of the #USAID funded AID-I. In just one year, this initiative has reached over 2 million farmers across 6 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, engaging 80+ private sector and NGO partners! Well done!

For the #EiA Chinyanja Triangle Soy Use Case team, last week in Zambia was busy as we deliberated on developing research outputs to operationalize our Minimum Viable Product for scaling and guiding soybean farmers on varieties, planting dates, fertilization and how to grow it.

Excited to share this research output showing how maize-legume rotations in Malawi’s smallholder farms are not just increasing maize yields but also boosting nutrition and maximizing land use efficiency. Thanks to Donald Nyamayevu and João Vasco Silva sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

As we prepare for the 2024/25 season, this week's @RAIZ planning meetings with farmers & partners has given insights on past biofertilizer use results in Mutoko and Murewa. These experiences are refining our #agroecological approaches to co-developing solutions with farmers.
