Last week we were delighted to welcome Mayor of Limerick, the first directly elected Mayor in Ireland. Mayor John Moran & delegation from Limerick Council - Comhairle Luimnigh met counterparts in Liverpool, Salford and Manchester to discuss opportunities for collaboration & shared learning

A fantastic evening in Huddersfield Irish Centre with a screening of Steps of Freedom, live dance from Cassidy School of Irish Dance, and a great discussion on Irish dance in the North of England — past, present, and future.

Our thoughts are with the people of Liverpool this evening. This was supposed to be a night of celebration for this city and Liverpool fans. Instead we are witnessing some devastating scenes unfold. My officials in the Department of Foreign Affairs are keeping me up to date.

Wonderful to be in #Sunderland today for the launch of ’You Raise Me Up’ the story of the inspirational Sister Mary Scholastica Sunderland’s ‘Angel of Mercy’. Thanks to Sunderland UK for hosting us at City Hall. And congratulations to authors Kevin & Joyce Lillie.

Leeds Irish Centre was at its best on Saturday for 55th anniversary celebrations. CG Mangan was joined by Deputy Ambassador Orla McBreen at the festivities. Chair Liam Thompson & long-time Manager Tommy McLoughlin led the celebration for one of the finest Irish Centres in England
