Sometimes I hear faculty say that if they are kind to their group members then people won’t work hard. This is not true. In reality, this seems to just drive people to make it *look* like they’re working hard. The best research happens when people feel supported and valued.

# of bookmarks on this post makes me happy! 😊 I don't even do any teaching but this is brilliant advice for life in academia in general. Not a bad idea to postpone anything that may weigh on your mind and cloud your holidays until you're (officially) back in the office in Jan.

The shortcomings of antibodies are widely known, and aptamers are increasingly used as affinity reagents. Yet, aptamers are not necessarily an improvement. ◼️ The specificity of aptamers is limited and even less well characterized.

Myelin and Covid I often post high-magnification photos, so sometimes it is hard (even for me in the microscope) to have an idea of the big picture of the damage that a microorganism like #SARSCoV2 can cause in the brain. The photos below are a comparison of the same region in

Happy to share my 2nd iPSC paper from my PhD studies with Wade-Martins Lab at nature.com/articles/s4138…! We showed that depleting tau in human iPSC-derived neurons is protective against Abeta. It was a collaborative effort, extremely thankful to the team. #research #Alzheimer

I've also published a concise and accessible version about the paper on Springer Nature's "Behind the Paper" blog here communities.springernature.com/posts/alzheime… Essentially the TL;DR version 😂 #research #Alzheimer #phdchat
