After a long day of packing the van, unpacking the van, lots of hefting things about and watching portacabins arrive, we’re on our way home. I’ll have more tweets for you on Sunday!

Good morning! It’s a bit overcast this morning; line cleaning continues apace. I can’t wait to get in there and have a go myself - but the public hub need setting up first, so I’m off into Ipplepen itself with our intern.

The trenches have started switching from line cleaning to feature excavation - how exciting! We also have some planning going on ready for the next section.

(I must deeply apologise for having been so quiet! I was off site for a week and have been hideously busy with site support, but I’m back now! - Freya)

We've made excellent progress on features large and small! In one corner of Trench 16 we have a small gully that may be the remains of a 'roundhouse', while on the other side of the site our large 4th century well is going down and down! bit.ly/2oWfSXp

We've hit water! Work on our late Roman well has stopped as we've found the water table. Although we cannot excavate any further, we have used coring equipment to show that the well was at least 3.3m deep.
