The book Data-Intensive Apps has got to be the most information-packed one I've read. Summary of all major DB storage techniques, explained in 35 pages in the book. Thread. 1. "Plain old" key-value store in a textfile 2. Indexing a key-value store (e.g. a CSV) with hash indexes (1/6)

Sometimes some books impress me so much that I start giving them away so that someone else can experience the same positive emotions. My latest hero is "Designing Data-Intensive Applications" Data-Intensive Apps by Martin Kleppmann. I bought and donated three already.
Data-Intensive Apps by Martin Kleppmann is by far the best technical book I have read. Dense with knowledge and examples. All wrapped in clean not over-complicated writing. It's surprisingly good in the form of audiobook (I am consuming both pdf and audio) if you prefer this form.
Data-Intensive Apps is the best consolidation of all real world problems that a mordern large scale application faces in production with the approaches one can take to solve them. Thanks Martin Kleppmann for such a gem! My Best read in 2021 without any doubt!
Finished reading Martin Kleppmann's incredible book "Designing Data-Intensive Applications" today and it is hands down one of the best books on data I've ever read. It covers a huge amount of material in a thoroughly engaging way. Should be mandatory reading for anyone working in data!
I solved a problem at work to guarantee eventual consistency of my system using so many of the concepts called out in Data-Intensive Apps. I cannot explain this feeling of joy. I highly recommend every software engineer to read the book if they haven't. Martin Kleppmann
