the ao3 archive was not built to protect media representation for women, or anyone for that matter. it was built specifically to host wincest omegaverse without having it immediately taken down, and the creators were nice enough to let all the other fandom sickos join in.

The quotes are so stupid. I love and read so many f/f ships but ao3 is not an algorithm or a social media website. Use the filters. Read what you wanna read. Write what you wanna write, especially if you like it and feel it’s underrepresented.

this discourse is so old & people have already pointed out that that’s not why ao3 was founded but i want to add: publishing works written mostly by women IS centering women. the men here are imaginary. the women writing them are the real ones.
