The first English Bible with chapters and verses was the Geneva Bible, completed in 1560! It is the Bible of English Protestantism during the 16th century. Can you guess a famous group of people that used this Bible? 📖

The Bible can been seen in several areas of the Jefferson Library of Congress. It is home to 1 of only 3 perfect vellum copies of a Gutenberg Bible. Above the reading room, Micah 6:8 is inscribed. It encourages us to act justly, love mercifully, and walk humbly with God.

In Psalm 10, the writer calls on God to remember those who are oppressed and helpless. Though injustice occurs around him, he recalls that God strengthens, listens, and hears the humble, giving them a hope ahead.

On this day in 1536, William Tyndale was martyred. His last words were, "Lord! Open the King of England's eyes." Within the next several years, King Henry VIII approved the work of several English translations.

"Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord." Got the tune in your head? That is the first line of one of the most famous hymns in the US. When we visit Museum of the Bible, we view the original draft of this hymn, written by Julia Ward Howe while she was in DC.

Because of the mercy God has shown us, believers are called to live lives that look like Christ, to live in unity to be humble, and gentle, bearing with one another in love (Eph 4:2). Brothers and sisters, how are we living this out?

The Willard InterContinental Washington, D.C. in Washington DC, has a vast history. In 1861, a hymn was written by one of the hotel's guests. These words would be sung during the Civil War, played at Ronald Reagan's Inauguration, and at the funeral of Winston Churchill. Can you guess the hymn?

When was the last time you read the creation story in Genesis 1? If it's been a while, have a read. What do you notice about God's creation?

Don't our hearts long for justice; for wrong to be made right? We have this hope, brothers and sisters, that one day, all WILL be made right by the one who is perfectly just.

“We do not want merely to see beauty, though, God knows, even that is bounty enough. We want something else which can hardly be put into words - to be united with the beauty we see, to pass into it, to receive it into ourselves, to bathe in it, to become part of it.” C.S. Lewis
