Me: what would you ask an artist you have learned about. Year one child: I just want to sit Hokusai down and ask him how on Earth he painted two little birds on a grain of rice 3/

Me: Have your opinions on art changed? Year 6 child: I used to think I hated art & couldn’t do it but you showed me such compassion last year & encouragement that I feel I can do anything in art. Thank you Miss Eccles. (At that point I thought I was going to burst into tears.)

I also feel it important to mention that these questions the children felt safe, happy and excited. They knew me. Knew that whatever they said was ok. If Ofsted sat and asked them I worry the sheer joy and passion they had would not be shown for fear of a ‘stranger’ asking them.
