As Indiana faces what will hopefully be its last week of freezing temperatures, how did the overall winter season compare to those in the past? According to the Accumulated Winter Season Severity Index (AWSSI), the 2019-2020 winter was one of the mildest for the Hoosier State.

On this day in 1852, a slew of tornadoes touched down in Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana. The tornado that touched down in New Harmony, Indiana was able to knock over trees at a rate of 7,000 per minute.
