The things you find in the back of a cupboard...

I've been hankering to start a project I loved as a kid. I found individual patterns online, but wanted the tactual feel of a real book. I had one 50 years ago, now long gone. Searching for it, the usual sites drew a blank. Found it on Awesome Books & I am chuffed to many bits!

A new visitor to Mill View today. Spotted an unusual reddish brown bird with long beak on a fencepost. As soon as I tried to take a pic it flew off, but the Merlin Bird ID app caught its call (kind of Keek Keek sound) & identified it as a Black-tailed Godwit.

The garden thermometer is reading 30°c here with a humidity of 79% - in the Outer Hebrides, with barely a whisper of wind! That's almost equivalent to the Amazon Rainforest. The cat is sunning himself on the decking, and the dog is sheltering under the fennel.

I bought one wee kitchen thing, then went to store it: thus was my morning spent tidying every cupboard, disposing of old stuff to make way for new stuff. At least my empty container cubbies (yes, plural) are finally tidy with all lids accounted for - a minor miracle in itself.

In what universe did a daft granny ever look at a game called Sand Art with 7 different colours of sand, & thought 'Why, that's just perfect to keep them amused in Granny's House.'? Yes, this universe & I'm still sweeping up the grains long after they left. Over 60 & still daft

Whenever did "I'll just tidy one drawer' ever lead to anything good. Drawers done-all of them. Moved on to cupboards. Done. Now facing the clósaid with a feeling of dread & anticipation. What forgotten treasures lie hidden in its dark depths to be given to Bethesda or repurposed?

Never in our worst nightmares did we ever imagine this. Our beautiful, gentle son. The most caring conscientious son a parent could wish for. 💔💔💔 A collection will be taken at the service for C.R.Y. (Cardiac Risk in the Young)
