A pair of Alvarezsaurus frolick together amongst the ferns. Interestingly, the color scheme here is basically what is now known to have adorned the feathered pelt of at least one Sinosauropteryx specimen.

Red sketch of Tyrannosaurus rex with exoparia, a recently found soft tissue in cheek region. This structure probably stabilized jaw during feeding. Similar tissues were found in extant chickens and could be present in many non-avian dinosaurs. Done in Paint. #paleoart

Color portrait of Asfaltovenator vialidadi, a probable relative of an Allosaurus. It's partial skeleton with skull was found in Lower Jurassic sediments of Cañadón Asfalto Formation in Argentina. This dinosaur has a mixture of primitive and progressive traits. #paleoart

Reconstruction of noasaurid Kiyacursor longipes from the Early Cretaceous of the Kemerovo region (Russia). It's known by partial postcranial skeleton including articulated hindlimbs. Kiyacursor had cursorial adaptations and could run quickly from predators. #paleoart

An experimental portrait of Tarbosaurus bataar. Here I tried brushes imitating oil paint and charcoal. Tarbosaurus is a close relative of T. rex, known mainly from specimens of different ages from the Maastrichtian of Mongolia. Done in Adobe Photoshop. #paleoart #dinosaur

Sauropods dared to ask the radical question: "What if dinosaurs were really, really big?" I will post an ID chart later, but if anyone wants to guess, then feel free to sound off in the comments. 🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕

Oh BOY! Story time! All the way back in 2016, on our way back from Munich for a EAVP meeting, Sven Sachs got a mail by Georg Göltz, attached were some first images of an incredible specimen. That evening we went over the material again and again...

New paper day! Phil Bell led a great study on some *INSANELY COOL* titanosaur tracks our expedition found in Mongolia. The scales in particular are extra awesome - they're like little pyramids, and they *may* have helped with scratch digging and/or walking on sandy surfaces!

What if Nanotyrannus is valid taxon? How then real subadult Tyrannosaurus looks like? There is the hypothesis based on LACM 23845,PIN 552-2, "Son of Sampson" and "Chomper". Art raises problematic questions, but the presence of a riddle can be much more interesting than its answer

Lusovenator santosi, a Late Jurassic carcharodontosaur from Portugal. It was described from incomplete specimen from Lourinha Formation in 2020. I did much of this drawing last year and fixed some details recently. #paleoart #dinosaur

Parasaurolophus walkeri came to drink water somewhere in Late Cretaceous Canada. This is one of the most famous hadrosaurs. It's notable feaure is long crest with internal hollows. The plants on drawing include mosses, ferns and aquatic monocot Cobbania corrugata. #paleoart

Portrait of meridiungulate Pyrotherium romeroi from the Late Oligocene of Argentina. Its skull was massive, with an elongated nostril, so that it could have had a short trunk. Because of this, Pyrotherium was previously classified as a relative of elephants. #paleoart

Intasuchus sylvicola, a intasuchid temnospondyl from Middle Permian of Komi Republic (Russia). It was an animal with 20-25 cm skull reinforced with ridges. Intasuchus is part of Inta faunal assemblage. Proportions were based on probably related Glanochton. #paleoart

Introducing a crazy new look for Spicomellus, based on newly described osteoderms unlike anything we've ever seen before. I was brought in to produce a life reconstruction based on the new material, published today by Maidment et al. in Nature: nature.com/articles/s4158…

Today I downloaded Gimp and did some work in it. It was a lot of fun using the different tools! The result was this portrait of a random megaraptoran. Megaraptora is a clade of possible coelurosaurs (or even tyrannosauroideans) with long and muscular forelimbs. #paleoart
