A time to reflect on the sacrifices of those who have served before us. It was a privilege for me to support the organisation of this event and lay a wreath on behalf of the service people of Abbey Wood. We will remember them. 🙏

Met some great people last night at a #feedthehomeless Christmas Market event in Bristol, while leading an MoD Abbey Wood team helping out. Over a 100 people attended, receiving a hot meal, clothes, tinned and fresh food, toiletries and much more. #volunteering #abbeywood 👍

Another great night in the REME 🇷🇴 Officers Mess. A chance to welcome 8 new officers to the Corps and say farewell to 4 former officers who all contributed immensely to our Corps and Army over many years. … And perhaps the last time I will wear mess kit too…. 🍽️🍷

I had the great pleasure of being presented with my second bar for my Long Service Medal yesterday by the youngest member of my Admin Unit team here in MoD Abbey Wood. 35 years done in British Army 🇬🇧 23 days to do. ….. and then who knows what next! #holidayfirst ✈️🌍🌞

After 35+ years, yesterday was my last day in uniform in British Army 🇬🇧 . I couldn’t have asked for a better send off from my team, friends and #TeamPhillips Some very kind gifts and cards and a trip to the big smoke to see The Greatest Show. Have a great weekend everyone. ☺️

Continuing my effort to read more in 2025, my book for March was The Hotel Avocado by bob mortimer A brilliant story told in Bob’s uniquely clever and wistful style. Perfect to sit in the sun on the riverbank with, rather than faffing around with a rod! 📙☀️ 10/10 Perfect

Being part of a team or a number of teams is what I suspect I will miss most about the British Army 🇬🇧 when I finally leave in June. Last week I met up with my REME 🇷🇴 Cricket 🏏 teammates over a pre-season curry. 🥘 Very nice of them to give me a retiring gift too. 🙏

My book for April. A very timely and an excellent, enjoyable read. I genuinely struggled to put it down. I learnt from it too. Even though this is fiction, it is so well researched and easy to follow. Thanks 🙏 Robert Harris. Recommended reading before the real Conclave.

Fabulous Day yesterday as REME Cricket Team won the Inter-Corps T20 trophy for the first time since 2012. Cfn Slater smashed a final ball 6 to win the semi vs a strong RE XI then we ‘batted bravely and caught everything’ to win the final vs RLC by 18 runs. 🥳👏🇷🇴

I am trying to read more in 2025! Here’s my book for May. CRISIS. A dramatic story of Columbian gangs, dirty bombs and the secret services by the brilliant bbc correspondent Frank Gardner who knows about this stuff. 👏 An absorbing story enjoyed during my western US trip. 📘
