Excited to inform that we are looking for a PhD student to conduct research in Coastal Engineering at SDSU. Applications will be received until December 15, 2022. Further questions about the application can be found at engineering.sdsu.edu/admissions/joi… or they can be addressed to me.

What can #InSAR data tell us about the 2021 Haiti earthquake? Co-authors and I found evidence of postseismic slip on the main EPGF and re-activation of older faults far from the mapped EPGF in our paper (my first!) out in BSSA now: doi.org/10.1785/012022…

Paper Alert. A new development of PTHA formulations is available at EF. This time, we put tsunamis, tides and sea level rise into the stochastic blender. Interesting to see how SLR can be even more relevant than tides making tsunamis worse. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.102…

Measuring waves and water levels using a GNSS antenna, such as that included in your smartphone and geodetic antennas. This idea amazed me since I here it for the first time in 2019. Now, we are happy to publish our first paper on GNSS-IR agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

In 2022, the Hunga volcano eruption in Tonga generated a pressure wave (known as a Lamb wave) in the atmosphere, which was detected worldwide.🌋 A new #AGUPubs study provides a comprehensive explanation for the Lamb wave shape. Check it out: brnw.ch/21wFQwM 📹:NASA

Paper alert. While moderate, tsunamis in SoCal are need to be considered when designing coastal infrastructure. Uncertainties related to tsunamigenic sources (e.g. earthquakes) and coastal processes modifying tsunami waves (tides & SLR) are quantified. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

The 1960 earthquake triggered a tsunami that propagated across the ocean, impacting coastlines as far as California. But what role did the tides play in this catastrophic event? At the SDSU Coastal Engineering Lab we're investigating this
