Thanks so much to Brandon O’Connell and @iForger_Pete It's always such a pleasure to work with iForge Makerspace and to introduce our Education@Sheffield students to the space. They didn't want to leave!

Last month @SheffieldUni’s Alumni Foundation awarded almost £40,000 in grants to student clubs and societies. From supporting a student-led ‘Makerspace’ iForge Makerspace to running a musical from start to finish in only 24 hours, we’re so impressed with everything students get up to.

Our MA Digital Literacies, Culture & Education students experimented with Making on a trip to the iForge Makerspace What did we learn about digital text production, agency and 'real' composing? Five of our students explored their reflections in a series of blog posts, introduced here.

The next in our #MADLCE student blogs on our visit to iForge Makerspace Yutong 'Susu' Ma considers whether engagement with makerspaces can, or should, be part of every student's experience. What are the barriers? Who are these spaces 'for'?

Today we welcomed Secretary of State for Education Bridget Phillipson to @AMRCtraining on her first official university visit. The Secretary of State met our incredible apprentices, their employers and learnt how we are providing skills that businesses need now and for the future.
