IDOT is pleased to report that the 1st stage of the Beardstown Bridge repairs is complete. Please keep in mind that the new work zone section is longer, which will increase the wait times for crossing the bridge. Please be patient & obey the traffic signals.

The southbound Coalfield rest area, located at mile marker 64 on I-55 in Montgomery County, is closed for sewer repairs. The parking lot remains open. The closure is expected to last a few days.

IDOT's Dist. 6 Program Development Engineer Greg Heckel provided updates about some current and upcoming road projects at the Christian Co. Economic Development Corp. meeting in Taylorville. He spoke about the installation of a J-turn and work on Mt. Auburn Rd. starting in 2026.

Quick update on the Beardstown Bridge. The ongoing repairs are currently in stage two of the planned four stages. The repair project is on schedule and should be completed in early November. IDOT is continuing to work towards advertising the new bridge for bid early in 2026.

Hey Beardstown Bridge travelers! Stage 2 of the repairs is done. On Monday, Stage 3 will begin which also means that traffic patterns will be adjusted. We ask for your patience while this switch is being made and allow for extra time, especially Monday, when crossing the bridge.

Traffic is being rerouted from southbound I-55 in Springfield to Dirksen Parkway at Clear Lake Avenue due to a truck roll over. Please use caution or select an alternate route. Posted at 4:30 on 8/29.

Beardstown bridge travelers! With the start of harvest season, it means there will be more trucks crossing the bridge. We are asking for patience as trucks take additional time to cross. Also, consider alternate routes to avoid the delays that will be encountered on the bridge.

Hey Springfield! Look what's happening to Wabash Avenue. IDOT is resurfacing Wabash Avenue from Robbins Road to MacArthur Boulevard. Work will mainly occur at night and access to side streets may be impacted. Please use caution when traveling through this construction zone.

Hey Beardstown bridge travelers! On October 1, the bridge repairs are moving to the next stage. This means work continues in same lane but proceeds on the Schuyler County side of the bridge. Further delays are expected. IDOT appreciates everyone’s patience.

Hey Logan County! The bridge decks on the Interstate 155 flyovers over I-55 are being replaced. The deck pour on the top structure is complete. Demolition of the middle structure is taking place. The project is expected to be completed in 2026. Details: prez.ly/e3qd
