I agree Nayiri. A diabetic normal can be normal. You don’t have to be superhuman, but you do need consistent accurate information. Endos who say a keto diet is going to cause DKA are part of the disinformation machine.

It’s dire,Andrew. A new Medical School I contacted in the UK were not interested in low carb for T1. They hid behind the General Medical Council, who said oh no it’s up to the Med Schools. Another generation of lost opportunity. Thank goodness for this guidance.Wes Streeting

The Practical Diabetic (Leon Tribe) This is an area of despite need in my opinion. Most patients are doing some form of dietary strategy yet we have no diet specific guidelines in T1D? But we have tons in T2D...Not acceptable.

This survey showed that 96% of 150 people on a keto diet for T1 between 1 and 10 years thought it was sustainable. Only 8% got information from a professional. Freetext comments are interesting. A lot of people are hacked off that they weren’t informed. type1keto.com/the-keto-surve…

My 10 year plan for the NHS: LET FOOD BE THY MEDICINE AND LET MEDICINE BE THY FOOD, as someone once said. Normalising and then medicating symptoms of metabolic illness keeps millions of people LESS UNHEALTHY, not HEALTHY. Science driven therapeutic nutrition is not nannying.

eleanorina (@_eleanorina) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Ian Lake it's not nannying because people can choose, like how they can choose to smoke. but right now most don't even know the effect it is having, they don't know they have a choice to avoid progression, they think it's normal to have chronic illness, luck of the draw and part of aging

I wonder why they are displaying 130mg/dL (7.2mmol/L) for someone of this age? It's not a physiological number and certainly even most adults without type 1 wouldn't want to be 130. As the late great Dr. Bernstein said;' All type 1's have a right to a normal glucose'.

A bit more on The Lifestyle Club! Raising awareness that low carb for reversing type 2 diabetes should be embraced by the NHS. Educating and supporting patients to reduce carbs to levels their body tolerates, should be the national guidelines! telegraph.co.uk/gift/6c3b3f18f…
