Got to see one of my favorite river systems (Vosso) up close again this week. In Bergen Telemetry Network, we always wait as long as we can to retrieve receivers. I might have stretched it a tiny bit far this time, but waiting longer just means more DATA!! #AnimalTracking #NFR_LaKES
Happy to announce two PhD positions in fish ecophysiology 📣 Fully funded, fun fish temperature physiology, supervision by me, Shaun Killen, Natalie Pilakouta! Naturvetenskap/GU Please spread the word 🙏 web103.reachmee.com/ext/I005/1035/…

Salmon with genes for becoming large have smaller scales for their body size. Thus, when using scales to study relationship between growth and maturation, better to use back-calculation instead of direct measures of scale size cdnsciencepub.com/doi/pdf/10.113… Geir H. This summer, our BTN members have done fieldwork for #NFR_RePRESS project: setting up radio antennas & tagging wild Atlantic salmon adults in western Norway! PhD candidate Erlend M.Hanssen & MSc student Markus study the effects of otter predation on the salmon population🐟🦦
Last summer, Morgan Piczak visited us in Norway that included working on the #BOATS project, entailing tracking different species like cod & European lobster in relation to seabed restoration. Curious about telemetry & restoration efficacy? Read more here: link.springer.com/article/10.100…
