#Iceland #Sundhnuka No activity on the volcanic fissure at Sundhnúka since midday yesterday, but embers are still burning and the area is unstable and dangerous. In the last 24 hours, around 2,800 earthquakes were recorded in connection with the magma flow mbl.is/frettir/innlen…

#Iceland #Sundhnuka Professor Thor Thordarson compares the seismic activity on Reykjanesta with 2021 and thinks the scenario is extending to Eldey. Changes are underway on Reykjanes Peninsula, and people need to be prepared for something more to happen. mbl.is/frettir/innlen…

#Iceland #Krisuvik Strong earthquakes were detected around 6 pm. The largest one was 3.6 mag. The source was between Kleifarvatn and Trölladyngja. It did not occur on the magma channel but are probably triggered earthquakes caused by the magma channel. ruv.is/frettir/innlen…

#Iceland #Sundhnuka More than 300 earthquakes have been recorded on Reykjanes in the past 24 hours and seismic activity continues to decrease, according to IMO. There are indications that land uplift and magma accumulation under Svartsengi have resumed. mbl.is/frettir/innlen…

A comparison of all the eruptions that have occurred on the Reykjanes Peninsula, in #Iceland, since 2021: the one of #Grindavík on Tuesday was the shortest and the least voluminous of all. The cycle started relatively recently and we are already at 11 total eruptions! Source: IMO

#Iceland #Reykjanes Land rise and seismic activity continues. In the last 24 hours, about 550 earthquakes have been recorded on the peninsula and out to the Reykjanes Ridge. "Necessary to wait a few days to assess magma accumulation under Svartsengi." mbl.is/frettir/innlen…

FragenüberFragen (@fragenuberf) 's Twitter Profile Photo

#Iceland #Reykjanes There are clear signs of continued landrise and thus expected magma inflow under #Svartsengi. Uplift is always faster immediately after an event, it may be necessary to wait a few weeks to assess further development. mbl.is/frettir/innlen…

#Iceland More than 20 earthquakes were recorded today at #Grjótárvatn in the #Ljósufjalla system. Swarms of this type have occurred in waves since volcanic activity began on the Reykjanes, but there is not necessarily any direct connection between them. mbl.is/frettir/innlen…

#Iceland A significant swarm with over 60 earthquakes has been ongoing since midday yesterday about 14 kilometers WNW of #Húsavík, the largest measuring 1.8 mag. "This is a known seismic zone,” says IMO mbl.is/frettir/innlen…

#Iceland #Sundhnuka IMO Update Uplift in Svartsengi continues, but speed decreased considerably and is now similar to that before the last eruption. While magma accumulation continues, repeated magma flows or even eruptions at Sundhnúka must be expected. vedur.is/um-vi/frettir/…

#Iceland #Sundhnuka Benedikt Gunnar Ófeigsson: “I doubt it will erupt this summer”. The magma flow is decreasing and short-term changes seem to be more related to the condition of the magma chamber itself and the properties of the surrounding crust. mbl.is/frettir/innlen…

#Iceland #Sundhnuka IMO Update Land rise continues in #Svartsengi . Based on the rate of the recent magma accumulation, the likelihood of a new eruption is increasing as the fall progresses. Seismic activity is decreasing, hazard assessment unchanged. vedur.is/um-vi/frettir/…
