A new article in Intelligence & Cognitive Abilities by Yujing Lin & her coauthors explores the power of DNA-based scores for predicting cognitive & educational outcomes. The authors found that about half of the predictive power was due to differences between families and half was individual

The Intelligence & Cognitive Abilities published an interesting article about the public speeches of Sir Godfrey Thomson, a psychologist who had a major influence on British education and intelligence testing in the early 20th century. The article uses newly available archival material to give insight

2 new psychometric papers just published in Intelligence & Cognitive Abilities: one on a role for non-shared environment effects in a prison population, the other on an historically important dispute about the nature of the g-factor: icajournal.scholasticahq.com

New article out in Intelligence & Cognitive Abilities on the Charles Spearman vs. Godfrey Thomson dispute about the nature of general cognitive ability a.k.a. g. (Link follows). Here is the abstract. Charles Spearman and Godfrey Thomson had a long disagreement about the nature

I just finished Gavan Tredoux's article in Intelligence & Cognitive Abilities on the dispute between Charles Spearman & Godfrey Thomson about the existence/nature of a general factor of intelligence. This isn't just a dry, historical dispute between two dead men. It has major implications today.

Effort does not increase IQ scores. A new Open Access research publication: icajournal.scholasticahq.com. Note that ICA does publish papers on genetics, but this is not one of them so please, no comments about Sydney Sweeney.

A major article by Timothy Bates was just published in Intelligence & Cognitive Abilities showing that incentives make people more motivated when taking tests. But the higher motivation does NOT cause IQ to increase. And the finding was replicated (n=500 in 1st study; n = 1,237 in the replication).
