I can’t describe how saddened I am by the death of Rick Bonnell. We’ve been friends since the 1980s football rivalry of Syracuse (Rick was beat writer) and Boston College (which I covered). Rick was the gentlest, kindest man. He meant well in all ways. So sorry.

Grant’s death is devastating. As a soccer writer he was an advocate for the sport in America and even more so for America’s ascension to the sport’s global community. He was driven by a vision of a better world.
