So, I changed my React codebase to NextJS. Why? It was a battle with a Shadcn date picker component that sparked the change. I tried for days but it wouldn’t work well, but worked in NextJS. Weird! So, my Goat Biz Web App will use NextJS and ExpressJS. Wat are you working on?

When I started learning JavaScript, it was so much hassle and very challenging. A year later i moved on to React, and life became less stressful. Since I started using NextJS, going to a year now, vanilla React has become stressful too🤣🤣. Anything to make my life easier 🤝

Growth is expensive, costing you time, patience, money, or anything, as the case may be. But, long as we claim to be software developers, we must come to terms with being lifelong learners.

One of my early struggles with ReactJS, coming from JavaScript, was knowing when to prop drill and when to go with global state. Trust me, it was a struggle and no amount of explanation did the justice, but I understood clearly with projects. Project is the hack, commit to it

Put your projects where your mouth is, that’s how developers roll. “I am a very skilled software developer” but your code is a mess, not even your projects underscore what you call yourself. CV gets you to interview, craft gets you past it. Are you what you say about yourself?

I use destructuring, filter and map methods, and spread operator a lot, and were some of the things I battled with during my JavaScript days. You must understand that JavaScript is indeed difficult, especially when you have no programming background, but it is not impossible.

Keep building projects, improving your portfolio, and bidding for jobs. You cannot despair 😞. The first job is the hardest, and it might take only the first interview to land it. Until then, prepare every day for the potential opportunity. Build, bid, build, bid more…

Some people would tell you to “work smart and not hard.” This doesn’t work in the tech space. You gotta work hard and smart at the same time. You think building complex projects requires you to work smart and not hard? Don’t play…

I have this habit of using AI to make my code either better or work, but I ensure I try to understand what was generated. This habit expands my knowledge and improves my skill. This is one of the reasons I use V0 from Vercel, it is just made for me. How do you use AI?

I extended the Shadcn DatePicker component to allow me to choose the month and year instead of clicking back and forth using the arrow keys on the Calendar, which is bad for UX. Writing this logic was easy, but connecting it to my Calendar was the real work. It works great now

My React faithfuls come closer. When was the time in your project you thought it was the right time to use React’s useMemo hook? Oh, you’ve never used it? Why though? Does that mean you’ve never had a use case for it? Come, let’s talk.

If I weren’t a Nigerian, becoming a fullstack software developer wouldn’t have crossed my mind. I could have just majored in frontend or backend. It is unfair that a fullstack developer earns just a little more than an FE or BE developer, but worries about both domains.

The tech market is changing, and you must know that just SKILL doesn’t equate to JOB OFFERS anymore. If your GitHub doesn’t show top projects, resume doesn’t speak results, LinkedIn doesn’t tell your impact story, you are INVINCIBLE. Companies wanna knw u can help them. Roll

If you think this is for you, drop your resume in my mail [email protected]. Please ensure your CV bears your phone number. If it doesn’t, I will discard it right away. Thank you 😊

I got up from bed this morning with smile on my face. The thought of getting to the office to continue my project brings me joy. Projects give me purpose. I will be working on the Forgot Password today, and this involves a few screens. I love magic links, what do you use?

Testing, DSA, accessibility, security are some of the key things most developers run away from but they only make you better at what you do. In fact, most companies need you to know them now.
