On average, from extensive personal experience, boomers are about 3x mentally tougher than millennials, and 10x tougher than gen Z. So yeah, they had it easier. But they didn't entirely just have to "exist and get manna of heaven". Each successive generation is more

"Reads your entire source code to plan its attack" Yes, just like real hacks, where they have the entire source code lying around

I don't miss it at all. I was always a systems thinker first, a coder second. Code was just the way to express it, and it was frustratingly slow at times. At least now LLMs can keep up quicker with implementing the overall vision.

The cause of this is democracy, by the way. It's no longer about private armies fighting one another (and often conceding before a single soldier was lost, due to being obviously outmatched and not wanting the expense). Now entire citezenries are enfranchised to hate each

The risk is that you fall into a trap of personifying and attaching social/emotional responses to a piece of tech. Do you thank your hoover? I don't abuse AI for the same reason I don't abuse my hoover - it's pointless.

The new rule: junior and mid-level engineers now need senior sign-off on any AI-assisted production changes So, like a code review? Remarkable idea

None of this is an inherent flaw in AI. It's just not being used optimally by many. Usage exploded before best practise could percolate. Leads/architects will adapt, or their companies will go under the slop wave.

Every time a post like this comes up, the commenters beclown themselves. As if having a constant stream of unbidden thoughts that you can't stop paying attention to is some sort of elevated state of being. This woman is closer to the pristine state, and lives at peace.

Probably the first time I've deliberately rage-baited. I stand by what I said, but I knew the response it would get. I can see why people do it

Anyone with half a braincell knows when you bench with no spotter you a) don't put the clips on so you can tip the weights off one side if you need to and b) stop *two* reps before you think you'll fail (because it's easy to be wrong)

It's miserable. When the sun occasionally comes out on its monthly visit, you feel like worshipful peasants crying with joy at receiving crumbs from your master.

If you're going to have brutalism, it might as well be surrounded by organic elements to soften it. The contrast makes it interesting. Much of Saigon looks like this.

Yes, but to be fair, the odds are against it. A vanishingly small number will ever reach that level. Drugs give you a shortcut, albeit a short-lived, chaotic, potentially dangerous one. That said, it's not "full enlightenment or nothing". It is revealed in stages, and each one
