Hello #MedTwitter! Today I fly off to Tampa, FL for my first ever research conference #ASCRS2022 ASCRS_1. Excited to be presenting my work w UIC Colorectal Surgery looking at disparities in CRS among Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients. Not too bad for my first tweet, right ?

I was a recipient of the ASCRS_1 International Fellowship Grant this year. I would like to thank the Research Foundation #ASCRS22 for helping me continue Dr. Herand Abcarian’s years long work on cryptoglandular perianal fistulas at UIC Colorectal Surgery and Dr. Gerald Gantt, Jr. MD for his mentorship

I had the good fortune of assisting Dr. Beierle during my elective rotation in Pediatric Surgery at Children’s hospital UAB… I would learn something new from her everyday I was in the OR with her. Truly a great teacher !

Thankful to Dr. Anders Mellgren and Dr. Vivek Chaudhry for representing our division UIC Colorectal Surgery at #ESCP2022 in Dublin. Our work sought to characterise young patients with diverticulitis who underwent surgical management.

A great start to my day ! Just witnessed a powerful conversation on allyship in surgery at #ACSCC22 Moderated by Tania K. Arora, MD, FACS and @GyasiSamilia, the panelists discussed the way forward in creating a safe space for surgery residents, especially those from minority backgrounds

Grateful to have gotten the opportunity to present our work at this year’s #ACSCC2022 with support from my mentors at UIC Colorectal Surgery especially Gerald Gantt, Jr. MD Through institutional and NSQIP data, we showed that younger pts requiring surgery for diverticulitis possess unique characteristics.
