‘Many of the subjects here are just – in character – the same as in Holland – the difference is in the colour’, wrote Vincent to his brother Theo in 1888. It’s hardly surprising that the Langlois Bridge reminded him of the Netherlands – there were plenty of drawbridges like this.

Ruined appetite? 🤢 In 1887, Van Gogh showed his art in this very Parisian restaurant – until the owner said the art spoiled his customers’ appetite. This painting of that spot will remain on display (appetite or not 😉) in the exhibition ‘Choosing Vincent’, on view until 31 Aug.

Van Gogh painted ‘The Peasant’ in 1889, while at the psychiatric institution in Saint-Rémy. He saw the peasant as a symbol of harmony with nature, in contrast with hectic city life. His bold colours and brushwork make the figure feel almost part of the landscape. 🖼️ © GNMC, Rome

Feeling blue? 💙 Enjoy this little art break with Vincent’s blues. He used blue not just as a colour, but sometimes also to express a mood. Which one speaks to you the most, and why? 1 'The Church at Auvers-sur-Oise', 1890 © Musée d'Orsay 2 'Café Terrace at Night', 1888 ©

The making of The LEGO Yellow House 🌻 It took 738 hours and 182,109 LEGO bricks to build five rooms that tell the story of Vincent and his sunflowers! Curious? The LEGO Yellow House is on view until 28 September, exclusively at our museum. #LEGO #LEGOart #VanGogh #VanGoghMuseum
