Junior docs today earn barely more than I did in 1996 after I graduated med school. I did not have to pay tuition fees, parking charges and I was provided with hospital accommodation. Resident doctors are paid less than the PAs who assist them. #isupportthestrike

My observation of 🇺🇸 medical training is that departments see having residents / students as a privilege This is in stark contrast to the NHS where trainees are often seen as a burden 🇬🇧 could learn a lot about valuing and appreciating the next gen of Drs More of this please

Our national study found that for every one hour with patients, UK resident doctors spend four hours on admin. In The BMJ today, we break down why this isn’t just an inconvenience, it’s a safety risk.  1) Fragmented EHRs → endless copy-paste + re-entering data 2) Trainees

A study confirms what we all knew - there is minimal training benefit in getting a foundation doctor or core trainee to scribe, chase scans, fix printers, porter patients, or book appointments. It could actually be detrimental to the job you have hired them to do.

This is to all the people that say a F1 is only a student doctor and don’t deserve more than £17/h. They are literally making life and death decisions all day long. Come on we can afford £22/h for them.

In the UK the consultants only let you do this if you’re not a doctor
