George @Strombo on universal basic income: "It's not perfect, but this sh*t's not perfect either, so I don't need it to be perfect, I just need people not to starve." #UBCM2024

Peace is everything. Not family, not forgiveness, not anyone’s idea of who you should be to make them feel better about you. Peace. A calm mind. A clear conscience. A heart that is carefully protected. Just…peace.

NDP trying to paint themselves as conservative lite before the writ drops is a losing strategy. Why would anyone choose watered down conservatives when they could have the real deal? For each milquetoast supporter you gain, you're losing a passionate advocate and organiser.

Pretty much all of the money disabled people get in welfare/benefits goes straight back into the economy. It pays taxes, buys products, keeps small businesses & the self employed in business, pays people's wages, and so much more. The "economic inactivity" rhetoric is a myth.

If you take the BC NDP at their word they're trying to expand health care, you must conclude that: (a) they're not good managers, and (b) they don't understand how health care works It's equally clear that the BC Conservatives' understanding of health care is even worse.

People can be employed and still be homeless (in fact many are) We need to stop believing homelessness is caused by laziness or a lack of effort. It's a POLICY failure not a PEOPLE failure. #HousingFirst

When it comes to the lack of women in leadership roles - it’s crucial to understand the role technology & disinformation plays. At WFMM, we discussed how disinformation that targets women leaders publicly, both undermines their work & discourages young women to get involved.

It’s honestly embarrassing that some of you think the existence of poor and homeless people is the root of your problems. Our budgets are blown by cops. $250 million more given to the RCMP would have gone a long way for family doctors.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but some of you definitely do! The main causes of homelessness are rent hikes and evictions, not drug use! #HousingCrisis

How local "democracy" works: - Boomers buy cheap homes in the 80s - vote for single-family zoning, nothing new gets built - their adult kids have to move away - since the kids live in a different jurisdiction, they can't vote to reform zoning Democracy as gated community.

Brandi Morin It really is no wonder why there is a movement of people saying they will not call police if they are in crisis. DON'T CALL POLICE. Keep crisis line phone numbers handy so that you can speak to a mental health professional. Police response to MH is a risk to the public.

The exclusion of disabled people can never be justified by the excuse that it is too expensive to undo it. Excluders cannot be allowed to benefit from their exclusion of disabled people.

Eby & Rustad agree on involuntary treatment - locking people up for health conditions and submitting them to forced medical procedures. BC is going to look like a human rights pariah on the world stage.
