President Museveni has assented to the UPDF (Amendment) Act, 2025—just weeks after the Supreme Court ruled against trying civilians in military courts. Any provision allowing this violates the Constitution. Let’s be clear: military justice is for soldiers, not civilians.

I’m more than confused. The UPDF (Amendment) Act, 2025 now classifies ceremonial shoes and gum boots as military stores under Schedule B. As a farmer, I own green gum boots. Like many Ugandans, I also have black shoes. Are we all now criminals?
