While it’s still fresh in your mind, make some notes on the 2023 vegetable gardening season. Think about which crops did poorly, and which ones performed great. Drawing a quick map can also be very helpful as a reference next spring. See more at: buff.ly/3F584tv

Snow is starting to recede. Don't be surprised if you notice vole runs. Voles use the snow as cover and their trails are exposed as it melts. No real damage to the turf as it should fill by itself. #NebExt

Pictures are coming in about vole issues. Typically the lawn will knit itself back together once active growth resumes. Check out this Backyard Farmer video on vole control: youtu.be/GkaDzjXWWRs?si… #NebExt

No April Fools Joke here. Callery pear including Bradford, Aristocrat, and Chanticleer are starting to bloom. These stinkers are no longer recommended to be planted. Read more from The Ohio State University: bygl.osu.edu/node/1476 Picture credit: Joe Boggs. #NebExt

With surrounding counties experiencing flooding I wanted to share some tips on about vegetable gardens. Fruits and vegetables not in direct contact with soil can be consumed after 90 days once the water recedes. This would include tomatoes, corn, eggplant, apples, okra & others.
