1855 in Haworth the funeral of Charlotte Nicholls, known to us by her maiden name Charlotte Bronte. Rev Sutcliffe Sowden presided over the service, as he had over Charlotte's wedding less than a year earlier. In 1861 Sowden died aged 45 after falling into a canal in fog.

The Haworth Old Post Office has opened to the public yesterday. The place is beautifully restored and steeped in history. This is the actual post office that the Brontës used and the place still has the original counter where the Brontë Sisters posted their manuscripts.
