On my regularly relayed platformers list next to smb3, one of the best to ever do it. You run, you jump, you get ripped into a million little meat bits, you go again. Incredible feeling controls easy to learn hard to master. Incredibly memorable character/level designs.

If you're starting out with fighting games, I recommend MBAACC. It's affordable and runs smoothly even on low-powered PCs. Plus, all the characters are fun.
