Composer Arnold Schoenberg was born #OTD—September 13—in 1874. He was at Carnegie Hall in 1934, when nearly two-dozen musicians honored Albert Einstein in a concert titled “A Tribute of Music to Science,” which concluded with a performance of Schoenberg’s “Verklärte Nacht."

OTD in 1964, one of the most influential bands in history performed at Carnegie Hall. While the band was on the cusp of stardom, they weren’t a household name. In fact, the group’s name is spelled incorrectly in our booking ledger. Can you find the misspelling and name the band?

We remember jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal, who made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1952 in a shared program alongside other jazz legends. At just 22 years old, he was still early in his career—which might account for the misspelling of his first name on the flyer.

So many songs I learned the true meaning & interpretation from Tony Bennett, esp. the recordings w/Bill Evans. I'll never forget Carnegie Hall in 1999, he ended with "How Do You Keep the Music Playing", brought the house down. Thank you Tony, I'll always keep your music playing.
