At the virtual meeting of the Advisory Board of the Women’s Platform for the Great Lakes region, Special Envoy Huang Xia expressed his support for the revitalization of the Board to mobilize women in addressing conflict root causes and ensuring their participation at all levels.

Today, I had a fruitful meeting with Amb Amb. Bankole Adeoye in Addis Abeba. Our discussion focused on the recent peace agreement signed in Washington by DRC and Rwanda. I conveyed the continued availability of UN to support African Union led peace efforts in the Great Lakes region.

I commend the critical roles of Qatar and the United States in facilitating this breakthrough, as well as the earlier groundwork laid by regional actors.
