This is a really great article and resonates with the conversations I have had with hospice patients #wellbeing #HospicePoet #stories The wellness model that really works – and the psychology behind it theconversation.com/the-five-step-… via The Conversation

This week is #HospiceUk #DyingMattersAwarenessWeek This poem followed a visit to the hospice of older primary school children. ‘Children’s Voices’ is the phrases in the class feedback forms. If children can begin to express feelings -we all ought to! #DMAW24 #HospicePoet #Hospice

Hospices are an essential part of their local communities and play a vital role in taking pressure off the wider health and care system. We're pleased to see palliative care included in the Labour Party's manifesto vision for Neighbourhood Health Centres.

At #Hospice #StoryHub we talked about songs and luxuries for a desert island…. Fascinating choices and ideas exploring favourite music and the people and places that inspired them. What would you choose? Here’s a #poem…. #HospiceCare #stories

Very few people realise that the vast majority of hospice and palliative care is provided by charity - not by the NHS. I think this is a national scandal. Please RT if you do too 🙏

Cheryl B Biondolillo Hospice care is about life, living well to the end - Dr Phil Isherwood I agree with you. Time Provides the opportunity to make more precious memories. Thankful life gave both of you that gift.

What troubles me most about ⁦Kim Leadbeater MBE MP⁩’s bill is that it places a legal obligation on the Secretary of State to ensure that assisted dying is available to patients for whom he’s under no such duty to provide adequate palliative care. 🧵 bills.parliament.uk/bills/3774/pub…

To my MP Jo Platt - please do study recent posts from Dr Rachel Clarke and Prof. Mark Taubert - there is inadequate NHS palliative and hospice funding. MPs needs to vote for better care before voting to remove the fear of inadequate care.

Before voting for #AssistedDying please do study recent posts from Dr Rachel Clarke and Prof. Mark Taubert and other experts - there is woefully inadequate NHS palliative and hospice funding. MPs needs to vote for better care before voting to remove the fear of inadequate care.

This is pernicious stuff, but just to be clear, I’m a palliative care doctor who’s also a diehard atheist. I have grave concerns about legalising AD now that are grounded in the suffering I witness caused by the appalling, shameful underfunding of palliative care in the UK.

"We must not open up a Pandora’s box with no evidence base, and only the anecdotal reports of bystanders and clinicians supplying the medication to go off." My article in The Spectator on #AssistedDying spectator.co.uk/article/the-un…

Please read. Gordon Brown makes such a compassionate case affirming the importance of palliative care. Rather than advancing a Bill on assisted dying, 70.2% of the public believe a Commission on Palliative and End of Life Care must come first. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
