I use small sided themed games as ‘arrival’ activities: “try to use the sole of the foot on receiving, moving, dribbling, turning or passing” is a vital skill to emphasise disguise & changing direction, the illusion of making one action but changing with ‘small late movements’

Gaining advantage in flow over your opponent is vital - these fun warm up duels get players to feel the lines of force of their opponent & learn how to get side on to quickly adapt moving forward or back not getting caught square on unable to turn quickly
