Green Route Students at #HorizonSecondary enjoyed an activity on food & nutrition & the impact on our digestive system in science. They used an app to scan products & were shocked at the fact a bottle of lynx had a similar score of the ingredients as a fox’s biscuit! #aspire

Music was our inspiration in Creative Expression at #HorizonDragonfly with students taking inspiration from their favourite songs to create art. #love

In Food tech, our young people at #HorizonDragonfly made their main course and dessert for their evening meal. They had Spanish meatballs followed by meringues. #Aspire #Love

#HorizonSecondary was visited by Kirkley Manor Care Home who spoke to students about the vast range of careers within the care industry.  They have kindly offered an opportunity our students to go for a visit/tour of the home or to spend some time 'shadowing' staff. #aspire #love

Yesterday afternoon our Chaplin, Julie, came in to do a food tech lesson with #HorizonDragonfly students to make rose and coconut ladoos. These are linked to the Eid festival and are a traditional sweet treat for Muslims to mark the end of Ramadan. #love #community

#HorizonSecondary students have been developing their enterprise to sell the products at school. They have been learning about target market, product design, public feedback, pricing & now onto logo/webpage design. Coffee fudge or buttercream sponge with Kitkat and Mars toppings

The young people, staff and ward staff at #HorizonDragonfly enjoyed their time with the selection of animals that Kimmy’s Zoo brought along. We would thoroughly recommend her  - she was very knowledgeable and had a lovely manner with the young people. #community

#HorizonDragonfly students have started ‘A Change is Gonna Come’ today. They listened to the song the book title is based on & introduced the themes of change, racial equality, discrimination, love, diversity & hope. Students annotated the cover with their predictions. #love

Students at #HorizonPrimary had a fun afternoon celebrating the Kings coronation. The pupils made bunting, crowns and flags, alongside decorating cakes and biscuits for everyone to enjoy. They all had such a fun time and really enjoyed munching on all the yummy treats. #love

At #HorizonSecondary, Customer services lessons this week continued to focus on product development for their enterprise, including decorating techniques, portion example and final design. #aspire

At #HorizonSecondary the Blue route enjoyed creating ‘Andrew’ the skeleton today. They have started to learn the names of the bones and were able to recall some knowledge from their mainstream school setting. #aspire

We’re proud to be supporting Mental Health Foundation this #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek - 15 to 21 May. Staff across all 3 sites have planned activities around this year’s theme of ‘anxiety’. We shall share some of the students’ work on here as the week progresses. #love

At #HorizonPrimary, the Purple class  enjoyed making their brains and discussing different parts of the brain for mental health week. #love #MentalHealthAwareness

Pupils at #HorizonPrimary have have been looking at sculpture in their art lessons. The Blue group have made some amazing tinfoil sculptures. They were rightfully proud of their achievements. We think we might have discovered the next Giocometti! #aspire #love

#HorizonSecondary Orange group students have started Operation Tidy Up in the forest. They created clear pathways ready for lower school to visit later in the week and were incredibly proud of their achievements. #community #love

#HorizonSecondary Purple Group students participated in a mindfulness activity to create a picture frame for whole school to use to snap memories. They used tools safely and correctly, while also building friendships. #community #love

#HorizonSecondary Orange Group students started today’s Outdoor Education by painting rocks. These then had phonics sounds added to them for #HorizonPrimary students to find and use. However, the rain put a halt to our activities. #community #aspire
