We are very proud of our Reception children who competed in the Virtual Infant Multi-Skills Competition and placed second overall out of 19 participating schools! They enjoyed a virtual prize-giving ceremony and were delighted to receive knitted trophies and medals.

Last week’s summer fayre was absolutely brilliant. Every class designed and ran their own stall, and we had so many creative and fun ideas on display. A huge thank you to our amazing PTA and all those who came along to support – we are already looking forward to next year!

And so we come to the end of another busy and productive academic year! Thank you to all members of our learning community for your incredible support and enthusiasm - we are extremely proud of all we have achieved together. Have a fantastic and well-deserved summer break.

During the holidays, our amazing staff have been hard at work deep cleaning and carrying out essential maintenance. Plus, we’ve got updated signage, refreshed planters and our modular building is ready to go. We can’t wait for the children to enjoy these spaces!

On Monday our cross country teams showed incredible determination, teamwork and resilience. We’re super proud of each runner and now eagerly await the results to see if any of our teams have made it through to the next round. Well done everyone!

We’ve had a great couple of weeks in Get Outdoors Club! The children have made clay faces using natural materials and wrapped whittled sticks with wool and feathers to make birds. They have shown amazing imagination, independence and enthusiasm!

Thank you to @jadebotterill MP for visiting us last week - it was great to welcome her into our lessons and show her our new outdoor sensory area. She also put her musical talents to the test, joining Year 3 in their Music session!

Our pupils marked World Mental Health Day by wearing yellow and exploring different emotions. A bright and brilliant day celebrating kindness, understanding, and mental wellbeing!

We had a fabulous time welcoming families to our Open Day on Saturday! Everyone got involved with fun activities like toasting marshmallows, making smoothies using the ‘Smoothie Bike’ and playing PE games. A huge thank you to everyone who made this event a success!

During School Road Safety Week, our local PCSOs helped us to promote road safety awareness. Pupils met Smiley SID (Speed Indication Device), used to monitor the speed of vehicles outside school, and learned about the importance of safe practice as a driver and pedestrian.

Last week we welcomed Jeff Rich, world-famous drummer from Status Quo, to our school for a drum and percussion masterclass. It was a hands-on experience with plenty of opportunities to play. Everyone had great fun, especially listening to Jeff’s incredible improv on the drumkit!

Horbury Primary Academy Choir have been spreading Christmas cheer! They have sung at Hickory's for family, friends and customers, and they have also visited Dovecote and Elm Lodge care homes and the Cluntergate Centre. The children and the community loved every minute!

And so we have come to the end of the term and, soon, another year! To all our children, staff, families and wider community; thank you for your hard work and support this year. We hope you have a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing you again in 2026!

Yesterday our Year 3 children were transported back to Stone Age times! They had an amazing day learning about hunting and gathering, animals, and how prehistoric people worked with flint to make tools. They also examined artefacts and built their own mini Stonehenge.
