In South Australia an 86 y/o terminally ill man has spent 10 months in hospital waiting for care support to go home He's now given up hope of getting that support & is instead 'choosing' to die by assisted suicide Is this the 'choice' we want in the UK? youtube.com/watch?v=dNY9Ur…

In Canada the assisted suicide law has extended not only to non terminally ill people but soon to those with mental health conditions Far too many disabled people are choosing to die as a solution to socio-economic problems This could happen here if assisted suicide becomes law

An argument that's used a lot in the assisted suicide debate: "but we don't let our pet's suffer?" No? We usually put pets down when it suits us - when caring for them becomes too inconvenient or expensive Which is exactly why me & many others oppose legalising this for humans

If legalised, assisted suicide will be administered by the NHS A letter signed by 3,400 healthcare professionals warns that inadequate health & hospice care means assisted suicide cannot be introduced safely while the NHS is broken Even the best safeguards won't be safe enough

🚩🚩🚩ORGAN-HARVESTING euthanasia victims in Belgium If you’re not haunted by the UK assisted suicide bill already, remember that in Belgium they are already harvesting organs from euthanasia victims and calculating how many more they can get

“32% accuracy in predicting the patient was in their final 6 months.” This makes flipping a coin more accurate than asking doctors if they think someone terminally ill will be alive in 6 months. That's also the main criteria of eligibility in the Leadbeater bill.

An excerpt from Labour's manifesto👀 A coalition of 350 disability organisations have voiced strong opposition for the 'Assisted Dying' Bill. Will Labour really break their manifesto so soon??

Assisted suicide advocates: "It works well in other countries!" Reality: In the Netherlands, around 40% of euthanasia deaths are performed without the patient's consent. Below is the crazy way one prominent euthanasia advocate justifies this

Terribly irresponsible comments from Kim Leadbeater in The Telegraph. Fearing being a burden is not a “legitimate reason” to seek an assisted death and the MP proposing the bill should not be musing whether it is.

Financial Times FT Opinion "The main issue with the legislation is that it makes it a crime to coerce someone into assisted dying, yet does not define what that coercion could look like. This is a huge oversight. As I told Leadbeater, sick and disabled people are one of the most at-risk groups abuse"

We are being told that euthanasia works well in other countries In this case, the doctor asked the family to hold down the woman who resisted being euthanised - so he could euthanise her. He also tried spiking her drink with lethal drugs.

🔴NEW: Lord Mackinlay urges MPs to vote against assisted dying Bill As MPs prepare to vote tomorrow, the Tory peer said that having all four of his limbs amputated after contracting sepsis taught him that “life – no matter how tough – is worth living”. telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/11/2…

I wish I could have Kim Leadbeater's naïve conviction that the criteria wouldn't be expanded because Parliament would have to do it Parliament having famously never put disabled people at risk

Best speech against so far is from Jess Asato, outlining meticulously quite how little we - and in that she includes the courts and medical professionals - understand what coercion is and how widespread it is too.

A few moments after MPs voted for assisted dying, the Government Whip on duty objected to and blocked the Children’s Hospices (Funding) Bill.

BBC Politics MPs have decided to bring darkness and death where there should be light and hope. The state will now facilitate the killing of poorly people. A symptom of Britain in decline.
