Not 'riots', not 'protests,' not 'legitimate concerns', not 'disorder', not 'unrest.' This is racist terrorizing.

Today we join over 240 orgs to stand in solidarity with those affected by the recent acts of violence, many of whom have already fled unimaginable horrors to try to find safety. #TogetherWithRefugees

Rumours everywhere about where the far right will target next. A tactic to sow fear & confusion & limit proactive efforts to protect people from harm. There's also a specific aim to provoke reprisals, esp from Muslims because they are DESPERATE to "both sides" this violence.

People know the ship is sinking.

The irony of protests in support of Palestinians being labelled “hate marches” while *actual* hate marches are labelled protests is not lost on me. Protests target the authorities responsible. These acts racially target innocent people who are just existing.

This UK has depended on people who are not white for its prosperity for centuries. Let us not pander to the xenophobic “anxieties” that imagine “we” are here to take what is not ours. If all else fails: “the earth is the Lord’s” despite the nation states who declare otherwise.

A convo about public resources/ communities abandoned by the political class is overdue. But let us not conflate white working classes with the far right. The return to a mythical white Christian England is the dream project being pushed along by certain people with great power.

2 Qs: who is creating accessible resources for those who want to understand/address the rise of far right “Christian” extremism in the UK? What would it look like to prioritise local ministry/ministers in the places the far right is seeking to build or building strongholds?

Finally: some of you really need to hire public theologians for your very visible organisations even on a consultancy basis, not just people with traditional PR/media skills because… If you have skills in public theology/ethics in the UK please reply so people can find you
