New: SB129, a bill that would ban DEI programs in state institutions, was given a favorable report by the AL House State Government Committee. It will head to the House floor for a final vote. al.com/educationlab/2…

Every now and again gotta throw my weight around and text family members broken lines of lyrics from “Pirates of Penzance.” Sister, if you’re reading this, this is not your round. But congratulations if this status triggers the same effect.

“are you just going to lay in bed all day” would you judge a frog resting atop a lilypad? would you criticize a flower for enjoying the sun??

98 degrees in Birmingham. Thinking of everyone locked up in sweltering prisons across the state, many elderly with health problems. It's unnecessary to make people suffer in heat like this, especially when churches have offered to install AC & were told no. Cruel yet usual.

This poetry collection is very very good btw !! Utterly transporting, conjuring an atmospheric and personal South that is deeply queer and kindred, full of animals, hymnals, heat—if that sort of thing feels like your jam, give your (near future) self a gift & preorder ✨

With homicides out of control, Birmingham needs a mayor with influence, not an influencer mayor. al.com/news/2024/09/w…
