Adaptive explanations: - Break the content down into smaller chunks. - Provide further examples and non-examples to make abstract concepts concrete and highlight common misconceptions. - Provide graphical representations of the content: diagrams, T-charts, timelines, flow charts.

Adaptive modelling: - Perform the model again. - Ensure models are not transient - transient information is any information of which there is no record to easily refer back to. This may mean pupils forgot the steps. Make sure the model is available to pupils to refer to.

- Model the complex version of the task. - Turn models into worked examples by adding written instructions for each step. - Chunking models and practice – complete the modelling of one step in the task and then allow pupils to practice completing this step....

Adaptive practice: - Provide additional practice questions or tasks. - Provide more support such as completing the task as a class or pair or partially completed questions. - Provide additional scaffolding. - Reduce the complexity of the practice task (initially).

Distractions eat attention and their appetite is BIG (over 33% of lesson time). BUT... our efforts to tackle them should be in proportion to their effect: ↓

Unit 0: “Learning How to Learn” is coming together! Well, the booklet’s knowledge organizers are at least. Instruction will be explicit with lots of concrete examples, MWB, turn and talk, cold calling, hinge questions, TPS, retrieval, and scenario-based application of knowledge.

.BEYONCÉ to be beside such a humble, gracious, legendary DIVA was a dream come true. Thank you for the opportunity to perform in Paris together & sing our song about friendship. To have learned from you & loved you my whole life, & then be standing together in matching gold

Trying to improve the way I use the visualiser in the classroom. Here is a little resource to help prompt me as teacher to ask questions

We had a year 6 child on the interview panel for a teacher today. At the end the panel were asked if they had any further questions. "We employ a Dialogic teaching approach at our school - tell us what your understanding of that is please." she says. Couldn't be prouder!🙂

I use a clicker (wireless presenter) when I'm presenting at an event but I used it in the classroom too. It enabled me to walk around the class & control the slides without being stuck to the desk. If you use any type of presentation slide deck this is a useful tool!
