We have no Speaker of the House. We have no confirmed ambassador to Israel. We have no confirmed heads for multiple US military command positions.

All of this is due to Republicans.

The average rent in the US for a one-bedroom apartment is $1,702 per month. That’s $16,825 per year. The poverty guideline for one person doesn’t even cover rent.

For the record, every Republican member of the Texas Senate voting to acquit Ken Paxton today is doing so because they've always known the guy was a crook and they've been okay with it, because it gives them power. That's really all they care about.

What does this say about ashton kutcher’s work with Thorn? I’m so over this shit. You either advocate against sexual harm/exploitation or you are complicit in it. There is no middle ground. Standing up for a rapist because he was good to you is the definition of preserving rape culture.

The conservative and fascist political strategy of contrived and imagined victimhood is nothing new. It’s essential to the construction of an equally contrived and imagined threat that can only ever be dealt with on the most violent and abusive terms.

I don’t know this guy and I’ve been told he’s an attorney, but for what it’s worth this is almost the textbook example I use when I’m teaching folks who *don’t* understand how the First Amendment actually works. (1/6)

A lot of people are bracing themselves for the rise in teen pregnancies post-Roe, but I can’t stop thinking the big news is going to be the increase in teen suicide rates.

What happens when medicine is regulated by politicians instead of medical experts? Just ask the plaintiffs in our Zurawski v. state of Texas case, who nearly died because their doctors were prevented from intervening to save their lives. kut.org/health/2023-07…
