Have had this book for a few years and I’m getting around to reading it now that I am researching Cook. Great book from Bridget Williams Books that I highly recommend! You won’t normally think of NZ when you think about archaeology but there is plenty interesting finds!

New Episode! The crew of the St Jean Baptiste are now dying of scurvy. They desperately need to find somewhere safe to anchor, rest and gather supplies. The situation is becoming more and more dire by the day. historyaotearoa.com/2024/11/03/143…

Found a funny quote about James Cook's attributes, he's a natural genius, bold, unprejudiced, humane, extraordinary, affable, direct, determined etc. The author also says "It may be added that he was over six feet in height". The more things change, the more they stay the same

I know we're all distracted and worried by the results coming out of the US but remember that we have people in our own country who hold the same values. Toitu te Tiriti rnz.co.nz/news/political…

Lots people say James Cook was a great sailor, navigator etc etc. but out of the three explorers I have researched, Tasman, de Surville and himself, he's the only one that crashed. Can't have been that good then lol
