Exhibition at Orsay "Paris 1874 Inventing impressionism" was amazing! Viewing works presented in the 1st impressionist exhibition & others in Salon in 1874, I finally understood why Monet's "Impression, Soleil Levant" became iconic. The original was so beautiful & outstanding!

Cool observations! H3K9me3 is passively erased during the rapid early embryonic cell divisions before MBT but the mark is re-established as the cell cycle duration elongates after MBT, permitting SETDB1 to accumulate in the nucleus.

Once upon a time, a postdoc fellowship foundation set up a couple of interviews in SF Bay Area, where I had to fly from Japan. Later I received a check in USD for reimbursement. Couldn't figure out what to do with it in Japan, I used it to open a bank account after I moved to SF.

Sad to learn that Prof. Keiji Tanaka, who contributed to the discovery of the proteasome, passed away. I still remember his beautiful presentations on the proteasome that I heard while I was a PhD student. Exposure to his enthusiasms greatly influenced my research direction.
