Rosefinches are the only birds that sing to me on bleak, icy, rimy ridges in the Himalayas. This one was gracious enough to keep me company as I dragged my weary self through a frozen 15,000-foot-high pass below the rugged Rajrambha.

As expected, there has been a fatal extreme rainfall event in the Doda District. Until this evening, the storm will only intensify in parts of Purig-Baltistan, E/SE Jammu & Kashmir, and NW/W Himachal (where localised rainfall intensities of >40 mm/hour are possible till tonight).
