My wife & had positive antigen tests in Jan & our 3yo followed with a positive PCR. We were all symptomatic & unwell. My wife was 10 weeks pregnant too. Here is how our respective employers responded when we told them that we were sick with Covid....

Irish hospital refusing to pay NCHDs who stay beyond 10am the morning after a night shift (a common occurrence with high hospital admissions) but have no issue docking them 2 minutes pay on the rare occasion they do get out. Horrendous working conditions. HSE Ireland IrishHealthInsider

A doctor told us today that when they do 16 hour call, their hospital pays them for 2 x 8 normal shifts instead, so as to avoid paying then the overtime rate. Another disgrace. Another #twofingerstodoctors Irish Medical Organisation do something!! Do anything

Being a junior doctor does provide some transferable skills that aren’t specific to medicine. Like I am SO good at moving house. Practice makes perfect.

I used to walk around wondering trying desperately to address some mental health issue I assumed I had, some sort of depression that made me too "weak" to be a doctor (as is instilled by the culture) and it's only now I realise it's Irish medicine. The cure was getting out.
