every time I see an Angels highlight it's like "Mike Trout hit three homes runs and raised his average to .528 while Shohei Ohtani did something that hasn't been done since 'Tungsten Arm' O'Doyle of the 1921 Akron Groomsmen, as the Tigers defeated the Angels 8-3"

On today’s Hey Not The Face! Podcast Stephie Haynes and I go over a bunch of recent Dana White statements on future UFC broadcast deals, UFC 306’s profitability, Power Slap, and more

This is response is why I think the Teamster vote could be disastrous for unions. This Dem admin went to the mat for them while the GOP did not & yet won their members support. My fear is the lesson learned is why should either party support organized labor when it means nothing?

Good 🧵 but I would still argue that good policies for labor are still good to do even if they don't win you votes. They're good to do because they are good.

A big part of this is that Waffle House deducts meals from worker pay, whether the workers actually eat or not. We wrote about this in July: prospect.org/labor/2024-07-…

If this got everyone to stop complaining about fighter pay this would be a great deal for the UFC. Would probably add around 10% to athlete costs but since they have monopsony power they could extract it from the higher paid fighters so there’d be no overall increase in costs.

For Dana White: probably because it's been a dream of his for decades. For Endeavor/TKO: probably because big boxing matches can generates a lot of revenue and they see a possible way to get a much higher share of that than what promoters traditionally have taken.

Shohei Ohtani just had one of the greatest performances in MLB history: 6-for-6 3 Home runs 2 Doubles 1 Single 10 Runs Batted In 4 Runs Scored 2 Stolen Bases He became the first player in MLB history to reach the 50/50 (and now 51/51) club. Greatest. Of. All. Time.
