Sometimes I am gobsmacked at the absurdity of what we're trying to do. Levi's has been around since the gold rush. Think about how much has changed since then: social mores, trends, behaviors, tech, etc. Trying to create something enduring when change = the only constant.

The brands you envy because they seem to scale effortlessly did one or more of these 5 things: 1. Put more thought into positioning 2. Structured offer & UX around Meta (or another acq channel) 3. Picked a product with a bigger TAM 4. Are less profitable 5. Got lucky

There is a difference between people who reply to clear their queue vs people who reply to solve the problem. If your brand over-indexes for the former, you're toast.

I have a fresh ad account, email lead capture campaign, seeded with a LAL from an existing subscriber list, <$50 daily budget. The campaign has been live for 12 hours and has barely spent a dollar. I think the ads are decent & there are no cost controls. Is this normal?

What I am thinking about right now: The "vibe" in eCom and consumer has definitely shifted. That doesn't mean that growth is impossible, but it does mean that the L10Y DTC playbook is less relevant. I don't think cost controls on Meta really work anymore. I've seen this

"We've released about 100 watches over three years, and it's very clear certain SKUs changed the trajectory of the business more than anything in the ad account." - Nate Lagos📈 Don't sleep on the power of product & merchandising!

the most recent newsletter by Alex is one of the best I've read all year - already had to forward this along to people I think she's one of the best writers in the space it's not a consistent weekly newsletter, but when she sends one, it's always a sure hit

If you mention Alex to anyone in our space their response is "she's so smart/brilliant/thoughtful" -- kudos to three years Alex. We are better because of you!

Here are some signs your business/priorities are off track: → You're having a 30 minute discussion about comping the "sorry our site was down" email from last month → More than 20% of your team's 9-5 is booked into recurring meetings → You're doing more than one vendor demo

My POV on remarketing (paying to advertise to your own list, usually via Meta) & retargeting (paying to advertise to your web visitors): 1. Not worthwhile as an evergreen Meta tactic unless you have at least 1 million customers to target. 2. Can work as a limited time tactic to

It’s official: The Boring Ecom Podcast is partnering with marketing legend Alex from no best practices to guest host season 3 of the podcast! Who should we interview first??

This AI generated video titled "Cat's Revenge Pt 1" has 57 million views on TikTok. Honestly the fact that this type of slop has such broad appeal boggles my mind...

I'm going to be vulnerable here, so be kind: Working with a client where our Meta video CPMs are >$80 in 85% of cases. The product is a hybrid near term/long term solution & is replenishable. HOW do you get videos to convert better? Our soft metrics on some videos are great.
